Maldon’s dinner delight

Recent stories

Every now and then, something comes along to remind you that, despite all the current negativity around the traps and around the world, it does one good to give yourself permission to grab at least one night a year to scoop up friends, invite visitors, get dressed up and have yourself a mighty good time. Enter the 18th Twilight Dinner.

Around 100 kids and parents from kinder and school received applause and cheers up and down Main Street—from the 800 seated, plus scores watching from the local pub and wine bar—during their lantern street procession and Flash dance routine. Opera kick-started the entertainment. And Forever 80s took everyone back to the big-hair, shoulder-pads and tight-pants look and hit songs of the 80s.

The Twilight Dinner had around 50 volunteers for set up and pack up. Then Sunday morning and reality eventually bites, with volunteers back in action again – doing the dishes.
