Year 2 student Lucy Tarca was recently awarded the Chief Minister’s Literacy Achievement Award in the Most Improved category.
The seven-year-old was ecstatic with the prestigious nod.
Proud mum Maria Carmody (pictured with Lucy) said she was so proud of her daughter.
“I am really impressed with her achievements – we have moved from Western Australia to Tennant Creek and it’s been a tough year,” she said.
“Lucy has done extremely well with making new friends and now winning this award – I’m just over the moon.”
The Chief Minister’s Literacy Achievement Awards recognise the literacy achievements of students in every transition to Year 9 class in government and non-government schools in the Territory.
All students receive a letter of congratulations from Chief Minister Natasha Fyles as well as an award certificate to mark their success.
