Wandin – Silvan Field Days

Welcome – President’s Message

It is with great pleasure that we invite you join us at the annual Wandin – Silvan Field Days

On behalf of our Committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our 2023 Field Days event, inviting your involvement to ensure the continuation and success of this popular and important local community event.

In this, my second year as President, I look forward to continuing to increase the profile and maintaining the high interest in this significant, family friendly, local event, which historically provides the perfect showcase for machinery, irrigation, farm inputs and a multitude of other items specific to specialised crops.

It is the ideal opportunity for local and regional business to make direct contact with their target audience.

Strategically located in the heart of the renowned Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges region of Victoria, the Wandin-Silvan Field Days are held at the picturesque Wandin East Recreation Reserve, with participants and exhibitors from across Australia.

We strive to maintain our very niche ‘Horticultural and Farm Machinery’ theme by actively encouraging the involvement of all particular exhibitors who are able to endorse our theme.

The “Information & Lifestyle” Pavilion, complimented by the General Interest Alley, enables us to host a wide range of special interest exhibitors selling such as food, wine, craft, nursery produce, clothing and jewellery just to name a few.  Latrobe Health will be on site in the pavilion, offering free face to face pharmacist led Health checks.

Always a popular feature at Wandin, a working presentation and display of machinery of yesteryear will be featured by the Yarra Valley Machinery Preservation Society – Highlighting the 100 year history of Howard Australia

The Heritage Draught Horse Club will also have a major presence this year, with up to 5 horses on show, along with displays of the various implements and tackle they use.

An added attraction will be the attendance of Animals Of Oz  – featuring an educational and inter-active display and talks. Complimented by Animals On The Move  – Children’s farmyard with baby farm animals.

On-site Chainsaw Carving by Brandon Kroon will also be a major attraction, certain to draw a crowd.

The Wandin-Silvan Field Days continues as a not-for-profit organisation. It is operated and run by a committee of local volunteers, some of whom have a history dating back to the first event.

The Field Day fosters community involvement with local schools and community groups providing catering and other services as their major fundraising opportunity.  Local CFA Brigades continue to play a key role in assisting with the operations, with gate proceed being donated directly back to them as well as other local community organisations.

Our Committee understands the importance of farming in Victoria, and in particular that of the greater Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, and we are very proud to maintain the tradition of being able to present this major regional event.

With the continued support of so many, the 54th Wandin-Silvan Field Days promises to be another great success.
