Nhill Airshow highlights

Recent stories

The arrival of a DC3 aircraft on the morning of the Nhill Airshow on April 13th 2024, will be a special treat for visitors.

For older Nhill residents, the sight of the magnificent DC3 landing on the airstrip will bring back memories of the regular passenger service that ran between Adelaide, Nhill and Melbourne from the 1940s to ’60s.

The DC3, affectionately known as the Gooney Bird, is operated by the Shortstop Charter Company and regularly flies around Melbourne and across to King Island. The flight from Essendon to Nhill as part of the Airshow will be an ‘experience of a lifetime’ so invite your family and friends to consider taking up the offer. Day return tickets will be available soon from the Nhill Airshow webpage. Included in the cost will be champagne and nibbles in the departure lounge, a snack pack in flight and free entry to the Airshow. A 30-minute joy flight at the conclusion of the Airshow will also be available before the plane returns to Melbourne.

Of course, the Airshow is not just about aeroplanes. Lots of other displays and entertainment will be provided, including three performances from the Pacific Belles, an outstanding singing group focusing on songs from the 1930-50s era.

If you would like to be part of this exciting Airshow by volunteering, sponsoring or donating towards the costs, please contact Jenny Creek on 0417 014 278. This event will draw thousands to Nhill, benefitting our whole community, so get involved in whatever way you can.

Early Bird tickets for the Airshow are now on sale on the website www.nhillairshow.com.au.

More information can be found on the NAHC Facebook page, and at the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre, open every weekend and public holidays 10am – 4pm.
