Nhill Presentation Ball

Nhill College’s Presentation Ball was held on Friday evening the 21st of April 2023 at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre.

Eighteen Nhill College students were presented to their families and Guests of Honour were Peter McDonald and Kim Magrath.

Those presenting on the evening included Taniesha Williams, Chloe, Callahan Elliott, Reinhard Vix, Scott Forbes, Ler Law La Shee Johney Hott, KIow Kwae Saw Htoo, Bailee White, Sienna Rowe, Tamarra Killackey, Rian Villare, Nyaw Nay Htoo Shwe, Jayda Polkinghorne, Amelia Drendel, Katani Chequer, Elizabeth Van Der Linden, Violet Moloney and Lah Si Mu Paw Tha Ei.

The participants learned a variety of dances including A Million Dream by Pink – Waltz, I Want to Hold Your Hand – Jive, Boys from the Bush – barn dance, Better When I’m Dancing – choreographed by Janeth. Parents dance Pride of Erin – Perfect Ed Sheeran and Special person dance Stand By Me – Pride of Erin.

Guest of honour Peter McDonald gave a motivational speech on how in life there will be different times when you may stop and think can I do that, but just give it a go! Give it a go was his message to the kids.

What have you got to lose? Principal Mark Zimmermann and his wife Wendy were in attendance and Mr Zimmermann congratulated the students on their presentation, also the parents and Kim Magrath for putting the night together, a lot of work goes into the night, and parents give up their time.

Mr Zimmermann also spoke on how it’s nice that things are slowly getting back to normal after covid and we are able to do things such as the annual Presentation Ball.

Nhill College school captain Lexi Farmers and Vice school captain Eh Lah Pay spoke and read out the debutante’s profiles.

Amelia Drendel and Taneisha Williams gave a thank you speech on behalf of the students and presented dance instructor Janeth with a thank you gift of a beautiful bunch of flowers and a vase that had all the debutants’ names engraved on it.

A glass engraved with the students’ names on them, was also presented to Kim and Peter.

A beautiful supper was provided with a variety of sandwiches and cake slices platters, all made by parents.

A big thank you to the many volunteers who assisted in making the evening run so well; those included Narelle Dart, Cathy Etherton, Loretta Simmonds, Hanna Cannell, Olivia Watson, Messi Ehdohpaw and Liam Holland.

Young and old then danced the night away to a selection of songs they had put together.

Congratulations to all the participants and to all those who made the evening such a success.
