President’s Message
I am writing this message at a stand we have for the Grand Car Lottery at a local shopping centre. It has been great to see everyone ‘come out’ again as we settle into a new normal with Covid.
On one hand, it is very exciting to return to ‘pre-covid’ conditions of no restrictions, mandates or hefty covid management plans. On the other, there are invariably things that are changed for good, such as digital efficiencies (ticketing, communication), the overall planning and structure of the show itself, the need for continual fund raising initiatives and general health and safety.
In our post-show debrief, follow up surveys and invitations for feedback, we have gained further insight into the shifting public perceptions and needs of the Show. We can certainly say we have taken on board all constructive feedback and are actively implementing change. The Society sees it as an integral way to move forward.
The 2022 Gawler Show has brought with it a lot of optimism. It has been an enormous challenge to say the least, with unprecedented obstacles appearing more than once. This year’s show continues to bring back family favourite exhibits and hands on experiences that make it a great day out. 2022 marks the return of the fireworks on Saturday along with a bumper range of trade, catering, amusements and entertainment. The Grand Parade is a highlight on Sunday, where we will draw some lucky tickets – including one for the Yarris Cross GX!
I cannot thank enough Tanya Veldkamp, Sondra Taylor, Isaiah Tesselaar and the committee for their unwavering commitment to the Show. I would also like to thank all our Sponsors and volunteers for helping us along the way.
