A chilly windy day did not deter the students at Canteen Creek on the field events day at the annual athletics carnival.
Family as First Teachers (FaFT) to Year 6 students competed in shot put, javelin, discus, long jump and high jump.
All students were so excited to be participating that most of them did not feel the cold, it seemed to be the teachers who were all rugged up as they officiated at each event.
Day 2 saw the sun come out for the track events and all those warm jumpers were quickly put aside as everyone enjoyed the warmth and sunny blue sky.

Canteen Creek is the only school in the Barkly that has a curved 100m track which the students love racing on, the white tracks show up so well on the deep red earthy oval.
Novelty events such as egg & spoon, sack, and 3 legged races were the highlight of the track events.
It was fantastic to see the community be involved in the carnival by participating in egg & spoon and tug of war against the school staff. We saw grandmothers, aunties, uncles, dads and mums competing and the students cheered them on loudly.
Miss Katie Stansfield Year 4-6 teacher had her drone to capture fantastic images of the carnival which is a great teaching tool for the students.
