The Naracoorte Swap Meet and Show n Shine had something for everyone last weekend. The Naracoorte Historic Vehicle Club was very pleased with the turnout after a break of two years. The number of sites was over 320 and there were plenty of buyers. Site holders were very happy with their sales and generally believed that the Meet was better than the 2019 event.

The Show n Shine featured 53 cars, with the proceeds to be donated to a local charity. Entries came from as far afield as Hamilton, Horsham, Mt Gambier and even two from Adelaide. The judge, Kahu Woolley from Naracoorte Service Centre, had a difficult task and gave an impressive summary of his thoughts on the cars to the crowd at the presentation of prizes. The winners were:

  • Pre 1940 car – Will Paisley, Naracoorte, 1939 Ford Coupe
  • 1940 – 1960 car – Bob Stocks, Naracoorte, 1958 Ford Customline
  • 1961 – 1980 car – Jeff Pahl, Coonawarra, 1972 HQ Holden Monaro
  • Hot Rod or Street Machine – Maria Schulz, Hamilton, 1960 Ford Falcon sedan

Displays from the Apsley Sporting Car Club, SE Drag Racing Association and the Naracoorte Historic Vehicle Club created a lot of interest. The NHVC members had their stationary engines running and a late 1930s International Farmall A tractor on display. The Club is always seeking new members with an interest in vintage and classic cars, motor bikes, tractors and stationary engines.

Local Clubs that benefited from their involvement in the Swap Meet were the Lions Club, Soroptomists, Boy Scouts, Greenbottles Hockey Club and Redlegs Hockey Club.

The Swap Meet organisers would like to acknowledge sponsorship from Envirotec.

The Historic Vehicle Club continues to run its successful monthly markets held behind the Sheep’s Back Museum on the second Saturday of each month.
