Tennant Creek’s very own Doreen Hansen has been selected to play for the All Stars in the NAB AFL Women’s Academy vs Under-23 All-Stars game this Sunday in Melbourne.

This comes after a successful season in AFL in Central Australia in 2021 and being awarded best on ground in last year’s 2021 CAFL grand final.

Doreen’s talent was evident when she attended Tennant Creek High School.

Barkly Sports Coordinator Pam Dillon highlighted her footy prowess in a 2015 Tennant Times article while she was still in school, being selected in the NT School Sports U/15 Touch Football team (“Local lass chosen twice for NT touch footy team”, TDT, 7/08/15).
