Manning Regional Art Gallery will throw open its virtual doors this Saturday 28 August from 4pm for its biennial art prize, ‘Naked & Nude’.

For the first time the winner of the Naked & Nude Art Prize 2021 will be announced via the Gallery’s social media channel and website as a result of current COVID-19 restrictions.

“While our doors are closed, our team is currently installing the exhibition in the hopes that we can re-open to the public in a few weeks,” explained Gallery Director Rachel Piercy.

“Due to the public health order our judge this year, Wendy Sharpe, is unable to travel to our area so for the first time in its 30 year history, judging is taking place virtually.”

The live filmed walk-through with Wendy has taken place this week before the winner is announced this weekend.

“These are difficult times and just as many businesses and organisations have had to adapt their operations, so have we,” added Rachel.

“Regardless of the restrictions we’re glad we can continue to support our creative community through these times.”

The digital walk-through will be made available to the public to complement the catalogue and allow visitors from far and wide to enjoy the exhibition.

“These pieces deserve to be seen, it truly is an amazing exhibition and the silver lining is that there’s no limit to our online audience so people from all over the world can potentially view Naked & Nude this year.”

If you’d like to view the exhibition digitally and to find out who the 2021 winner is on Saturday, head to the Gallery’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/ManningRegionalArtGallery or the website https://mrag.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/Home
