Will Tatiara support LCLGA?
The Tatiara District Council’s support for the Limestone Coast Local Government Association (LCLGA) hangs in the balance. In a motion without notice at the Council’s September meeting, Cr Lynton Mackenzie said the council should convey to the association’s board that the elected members of the Council "have lost their belief in the ability of the LCLGA to viably deliver economically quantifiable outcomes for the Limestone Coast region and, more significantly, the Tatiara District Council".

Cape Jaffa Marina closure
Following severe storms at the end of August 2024 which saw seven metre swells hit the coastline, significant sand ingress compromised safe navigation of vessels to and from the Cape Jaffa Marina. As a result, the commercial fishing fleet unfortunately had to transport to Robe to commence their annual fishing season.

Elected councillors declared – No changes following recount for Hay and Edward River
There have been no changes following a recount in Hay and Edward River Councils last Friday. An unsuccessful candidate in both Hay and Deniliquin requested the recount due to very tight margins … The official councillors for the next four years for Hay are Martyn Quinn, Will Miller, Carol Oataway, Lionel Garner, Darren Tapper, Geoff Chapman, Paul Porter and John Perry.

Felled trees just the start of changes on Yanchep Beach Rd
DevelopmentWA, the agency responsible for felling trees on Yanchep Beach Rd two weeks ago, says most of the trees remain and new ones will be planted once an access upgrade in the area is completed. In the days following the cutting down of the trees, including some tuart trees, Yanchep News Online was contacted by a number of residents who were shocked at the loss of the mature trees.
Landslide victory in mayoral race
Emily McInerney. Broken Hill City Council Mayor Tom Kennedy has been voted in for his second term, with a staggering 70 per cent vote. Mayor Kennedy said he was proud of the response he received from the community at the September local government elections. Of the 13,000 registered voters, Mayor Kennedy received 7,419 votes.
Youth Fest 2024 comes to an end with action-packed skate park fun
Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 wrapped up ... with a day full of action at the Shepparton Skate Park, marking the successful conclusion of a month-long celebration dedicated to youth. The Department of Planning and Environment (Water) advised some months ago that there would be an independent review of the original design of the Wilcannia weir. Several names were recommended to the department by the community to form membership of the Independent Review Panel.

Funds should be earmarked for rural councils
Two regional Victorian councils have given evidence to the Parliamentary Inquiry about the challenges faced by local governments including maintaining services from a small ratepayer base and attracting workforce. The Rural City of Wangaratta and Murrindindi Shire Council addressed the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Regional Development, Infrastructure and Transport in Wallan last Thursday.
Alert issued for lake water
Snowy Valleys Council (SVC) has issued a blue-green algae ‘Red Alert’ for Mannus Lake and warning signs are in effect at key recreational areas around the lake. Red alert levels represent ‘bloom’ conditions.
