The 61st Barham Koondrook Show dodged the rain on Friday to put on two days of fun-filled action for the community. Thrilling rides, live music, great food and impressive displays enticed the crowds to brave the wind and menacing clouds for the first show of the new committee.

What’s on after Halloween and before Christmas, and is a mainstay of love, togetherness and unity on the Hay and district Calendar? Rainbow on the Plains! It’s on this year from November ... and the theme of this year’s event is reflection.

The Nhill A&P Society was fortunate to have Malcolm Knowles, all the way from outside Sydney, as the judge for the Lego entries at this year’s show. Malcolm brought his enthusiasm and even sported a special "Nhill Show" Lego-themed outfit. In addition to his role as judge, Malcolm has another impressive connection to the sporting world.

What a remarkable day the 138th annual Nhill Show turned out to be ... Initially, the weather posed a concern for the organising committee ... By 10a.m., all trade sites, food vendors, and amusements in Sideshow Alley were fully prepared, while the shearing and equestrian events were already underway.

Since the inaugural Grafton Jacaranda Festival was held in 1935 and attracted an estimated 4000 attendees to the region, it has become Australia’s foremost floral celebration … thousands of visitors from across the country and overseas journey to the Clarence Valley to share in the history of the time honoured annual festivity while immersing themselves amongst local attractions, characters, and traditions…

The Riverview Lutheran Rest Home in Loxton held a ‘show week’ with residents and visitors enjoying activities organised to boost the mood and happiness of everyone involved.

The Nhill Show is on tomorrow ... with action starting at 8:30 am and wrapping up at 9:00 pm with the magnificent fireworks display. From shearing competitions to the animal nursery and home industries, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.
