Coinciding with Cambooya Landcare’s annual general meeting at Felton Hall on Saturday, 9 November will be a free ‘Fossils on Farms’ Workshop and community barbecue.

Glenn Knight, Secretary of Cambooya Landcare said the workshop, starting at 2pm, will include guest speakers familiar with fossils that can be found on farms in the local area.

“We are very lucky to have eminent speakers,” Mr Knight said.

“Ian Sobbe, well-known identity of Clifton Megafauna Group fame, is a Collaborative Scientist with the Queensland Museum.

“Dr Gilbert Price is a Senior Lecturer in Palaeontology at the University of Queensland.”

Attendees will learn what fossils can be discovered in our area, what to look for, where to look and what the rules and rights are if you find something.

There will be a display of fossils and time for discussion.

If people have collected their own fossils locally, they can bring them along to be assessed.

The workshop will be followed by the 2024 Cambooya Landcare Annual General Meeting at approximately 4pm then a community meet and greet barbecue.

School age children are very welcome to attend but those under 14 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

“We are excited to offer this interesting event to the local community thanks to a Toowoomba Regional Council Community Events Grant,” Mr Knight said.
