The Barossa Council, Media Release, 6 March 2026

When the final siren sounds at Barossa Park on Saturday, 11 April, the party is just getting started as Tanunda’s main street transforms into the ultimate post-match destination with food, wine and entertainment.

A hallmark event on the Festival of Footy calendar, the Barossa Food & Wine Village, returns for Gather Round 2026, reimagined on a bigger scale.

After last year’s success, The Barossa Council has curated an experience that offers visitors and locals a chance to enjoy some of Barossa’s best food and wine in a vibrant street-party atmosphere.

From the kids to the grownups, the footy fans and the lovers of food and wine, the Barossa Food & Wine Village is a fully accessible open access event with something for everyone.

Meet the makers, indulge in wines from across the region and soak up the atmosphere in the Wine Village or seek out a more elevated experience with Yalumba or Peter Lehmann Wines.

Murray Street traders will spill onto the footpath, turning Tanunda’s main street into a feast for the sense, supported by pop up food vendors offering everything from cheese platters and pizza to donuts and ice cream.

Two big screens streaming live coverage of other Gather Round games, means not a moment of footy is missed, while a dedicated kids’ zone with footy activities, Central District Football Club player appearances, giveaways and entertainment ensure the whole family is catered for.

Fresh from a standout set at Day in the Gully, Adelaide indie pop band, The Tullamarines will headline the entertainment, supported by local live artists and DJ Alex Hosking to keep the vibes and atmosphere high.

“This event is more than just great food and wine; it’s about economic opportunity for our local community as Gather Round puts Barossa on the national stage,” he said.

“The feedback from last year gave us even more reason to go bigger with this activation, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. We want every visitor, whether they’re a die-hard footy fan or first-time Barossa explorer to leave with a full glass, a full belly and even deeper love for our region.

“We’re incredibly grateful for our sponsors who are supporting this year’s event. To have the backing of Central District Football Club, Yalumba, Peter Lehmann Wines and Coles Healthy Kicks as gold sponsors is a vote of confidence, cementing this event as a must-attend on the Gather Round calendar.”

And for those concerned about getting around, buses will be running from Lyndoch to Tanunda post-game, and Council has secured buses to run from the Tanunda Recreation Park back to Gawler, connecting with train transport ($10pp with bookings required to secure a seat).

The Barossa Food & Wine Village is delivered by The Barossa Council and proudly supported by gold sponsors, Central District Football Club, Yalumba, Coles Healthy Kicks, and Peter Lehmann Wines and bronze sponsors, AP John Cooperage, Seppeltsfield Rd Distillers, Rehn Bier and Forage Supply Co.
