Kids under 18 free as Taralga Show celebrates 140 years of Country Fun!
Kids under 18 years receive free entry, the rides are bigger than ever, and the Taralga Show is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone — 140 years of shows in Taralga. Taking place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March, this year’s Show promises a huge weekend of family fun, competition and country tradition, with organisers encouraging families to bring the kids along and make the most of everything on offer.
Young showgoers will be spoiled for choice, with free entry all weekend for children under 18, plus a massive line-up of entertainment including rides, a mechanical bull, jumping castles, a gigantic slide and a climbing wall, along with hands-on activities and novelty competitions. With so much to see and do, the Taralga Show is shaping up as the ultimate family day out — and a fitting way to celebrate 140 years of community spirit.
The Show Pavilion will once again be a major highlight, showcasing local talent across a wide range of sections. Pavilion entries will be received on Thursday 12 March from 3pm to 6pm and Friday 13 March from 8am to 10am, with judging commencing from Friday afternoon. The Pavilion will then be open for the public to enjoy from 9am Saturday, featuring colourful, creative and highly competitive displays.
Exhibitors are encouraged to get involved, with Pavilion sections including cookery, flowers, fancywork, rich fruit cake, art and craft, photography, invigorated wool, jams and preserves, and more. Several new events have been added in 2026 to encourage fresh entries and participation.
In the cookery section, a new “Dead Easy Chocolate Cake” class has been introduced, with the official recipe available on the Taralga Show website. The winning entry will earn the opportunity to represent Taralga at the Group Finals, giving home bakers the chance to take their skills beyond the local show ring.
Fancywork has also expanded this year, with new woollen garment and patchwork classes, offering exhibitors the opportunity to qualify to represent Taralga at the Sydney Royal Easter Show — a proud achievement for any local competitor.
Outside the Pavilion, the horse program has been completely revamped for 2026, bringing fresh energy and a full schedule of events across both days of the Show.
Saturday will feature meat sheep judging, poultry judging, yard dog trials, commercial and prime cattle judging, along with home brew judging. The official opening will be held on Saturday and led by Jill Chapman, President of AgShows NSW. Popular crowd favourites will return, including the sheep counting competition and the dog high jump, which this year includes a new novice class. Live entertainment on Saturday will be provided by Chalkie White, adding to the relaxed country atmosphere.
Sunday continues with stud cattle judging, show jumping, Merino sheep judging, quick shear, the Young Farmer Challenge, horse sporting events, and the poetry competition presentation, before the weekend concludes with the Grand Parade at 1pm — a celebration of exhibitors, competitors and 140 years of Taralga Show history.
The ever-popular “Guess the Weight” competition will also return, with details revealed on the day.
The Taralga Show Committee sincerely thanks its sponsors and supporters for their continued backing and invites the community to come along, support local exhibitors and celebrate everything that makes the Show special.
With free entry for kids under 18, rides galore and 140 years of shows to celebrate, the 2026 Taralga Show is set to be one of the biggest and best yet.
