A hole in one by two

Recent stories

It is every golfer’s dream to achieve a hole in one, and for two local ladies, that dream came true just days apart last week when enjoying a day on the green at Barham Golf Club.

Kerang’s Jan Harry was first to hit the mark 2 weeks ago during the Saturday competition.

“It was my first shot of the day,” she told The Bridge, “Our group started on the 1st hole. I hit the shot and looked up and thought, oh this looks good, and my playing partner Kerry, said ‘go in the hole’ and just at the same time as she said that it did!! I jumped up with excitement and then hugged my playing partners in celebration.”

A very excited Jan admits that this was her first hole in one and a moment she will never forget.

Then, just four days later, it happened again, but this time it was with Koondrook local Lexie Ewen, same golf course and the very same hole.

Talking to The Bridge from sunny Cairns, Lexie said she remembers hitting the ball with a bigger club and, watching it curve beautifully, she was certain she had come up 6 inches short.

“My playing partner, Gayle said it went in but I didn’t believe her. I hadn’t seen the shot which was disappointing, and I wasn’t prepared to get excited before I saw it for myself. So, needing verification, I walked up and sure enough there it was in the hole! I couldn’t believe it, I was so excited! There was lots of excitement and cheering.”

With such success stories as these, no doubt Barham Golf Club will be experiencing a high volume of memberships for the new season!!
