Encouraging trainees and apprentices in any trade or vocation can motivate them in their long-term career aspirations.

2023 winner of the Castlemaine Rotary Apprentice/Trainee Awards, Griffin Day, says that the experience is one that has stayed with him. At the time, Griffin was a fourth-year Heavy Vehicle Mechanic apprentice at Thompson’s Transport.

“It was such a good feeling to read the words that Keith and Scott Thompson wrote about me. It motivated me to do even more. I completed my apprenticeship and am now managing the workshop.”

The Awards, which recognise and reward excellence, offer cash prizes totalling $1,500. Anyone who knows an outstanding apprentice or trainee of any age or vocation working in the Mount Alexander Shire is encouraged to nominate them for the Castlemaine Rotary Apprentice /Trainee Awards, which close at midnight on Wednesday 5 March.
