Perth Golf Network and Harvey golfers Dee and Drew Devenish delivered an outstanding performance to secure the Denmark Summer Golf Classic winners’ trophy.

They achieved an impressive 49 points on Sunday and 86 points in the 36-hole stableford classic event.

The runners up were the local team of Richard Oxford and Paul Harbron, who also finished with 86 points but lost on countback.

The third placed were Jarred Newby and Rick Slattery, who scored 85 points.

The Summer Golf Classic celebrated its 12th anniversary at the Denmark Country Club from February 14-16.

As one of the most prestigious golfing events in the region, the competition attracted golfers from across the State, from Geraldton to Esperance, Hopetoun and Capel, all aiming for a place in the winners’ circle.

The event began with a 2-person ambrose on Friday, February 14, followed by the 36-hole stableford competition.

Registrations for the three-day event were fully booked within 48 hours, underscoring its status as the highlight of the golfing calendar.

Participants enjoyed the course and the support of more than 90 volunteers.

Committee chair Irene Stone said that more than 300 golfers representing 57 clubs competed.

“The event is a major fundraiser for the club, with the thousands of dollars raised used to maintain the course,” she said.

In the lead-up to the weekend event, local players Paul Harbron and Richard Oxford won the Friday two-ball ambrose event with 64 net.

The runners up were Steve and Carmen Palframan from Lake Karrinyup, who finished with 64.75.

Following them were Nigel Reeve and Frank Baeli from Manjimup, who scored 65.

The prize for the best men’s team was awarded to Sky Pusmucans and Michael Silver, who finished with 67, while the best women’s team prize went to Marion Nelson and Annette Harbron, 66.75.
