The Prime Minister has begun an anti-bullying campaign. It’s welcome.
He could start right at home with his own government who are allowing TCV to bully farmers in this district into accepting the power lines that come with wind turbines. Their treatment of affected landholders along VNI West power line route is a disgrace, the so-called negotiations and compensation offers are a farce.
The Corack wind power proposal is to have 100-plus wind towers with the blades reaching 285 metres at their high point.
To put it in perspective they will be more than 10 times higher than our old concrete silos. They will be visible from most homes in Wycheproof. They will form a city like silhouette on the skyline at sunset.
Noise and vibration are already an issue for many Victorians who live near wind turbines. The prevailing wind at Wycheproof is from the south west, precisely where the proposed turbines are to be placed.
The community had a chance to meet with ACEN today (Tuesday, November 26). The meeting with ACEN was cancelled because of “safety concerns”.
What a pathetic decision. If they plucked up courage, they would find out that it is mostly young farmers with young families who wish to meet and debate with them.
ACEN are clearly dodging questions from those affected.
Without exception, these families love and care for the plains of the northern Wimmera and the Southern Mallee. They do not wish to turn our farming district into an industrial zone covered in power lines and wind towers.
Please make your feelings known to our local shire councillors and members of parliament.
