The 2024 Yass Show will be held on 16 March 2024. It will be a one day traditional agricultural show, with two days of Showjumping. Spectator entry to Sunday showjumping is free.

The theme for this year’s show is agriculture and showcasing the local region. The show will have lots to see and do, with the very popular Quick Shear Competition in the Don Payne Shearing Pavilion, Woodchopping and Yard Dog Trials. New entertainment this year includes camel rides and Pro Wrestling.

The Children’s Activities are is making a return, with fun games and activities for the younger kids, a Pet Competition, regular magician shows and an animal patting paddock.

Being an agricultural show there will be all the usual pavilion exhibits such as cooking, jams and preserves, needlecraft, fruit, veggies, lego, handicrafts, plants, flowers, decorated wheelbarrows, wool, honey, and photography. There is also a new scarecrow competition. Non-perishable entries are due in on Tuesday 12 March between 1 and 6 pm. Perishable items such as plants and flowers, fruit and vegetables and cooking are due in on Friday 15 March. Schedules and entry forms are available on the website: yassshow.org.au.

There is a full day of horse events planned, including showjumping, heavy horses, miniature horses and Pony Club events. There will be a Woodchop, starting at 11 am, Yard Dog Trials, a Championship Dog Show, merino and british breeds sheep, and cattle. There will be working antique machinery, antique cars, and commercial exhibitors. Food is provided by local community groups and local vendors, and there will be local market type stalls. There will be show bags, but there will be no Sideshow Alley.

We are again running our Business Display Competition, with a scarecrow theme this year. This competition is open to all local businesses, regardless of their location and we have had a good number of entries. If you are visiting Yass, check out the wonderful displays local businesses have put up to support our local region and the show.

Gates open to the public from 8 am. Tickets can be prepurchased on line, go to the web page yassshow.org.au and follow the links to tickets. Tickets will be available at the gate on the day.

On the Friday night (15 March) from 6pm to 9.30 pm, there will be Bucking Bulls Australia Yass Classic event, run by the Yass Regional Rodeo Association in the Rodeo Arena at the Showgrounds. This is a separate event with separate ticketing. You can find them on Facebook.
