Show Competitions

As always we have the many different competition that make the show such a great family day out.

We have the Show Jumping, Show Horses, Cattle, Sheep and Fleece, Poultry, Show Cars and Utes, Farm and Garden, Fancy and Craft Work, Flowers and Floral Art, Historical, Photography, Home Brew, Scarecrows, Children’s Art and Cookery.

In the Farm and Garden the Sweetest Honey has been hotly contested in recent years with the the growing popularity of beekeeping.

We also have for the kids to enter the best Painted Hard Boiled Egg with either a Farm Animal or Emoji theme and the Novelty item made from vegetables.

The Scarecrow section is also a great one to take a look and marvel at the creativity of people to scare away the garden pest with one last year even had a  motion sensing voice facility!

Show Cars, Utes and Motorbikes

We are grateful for our partnership with the Portland and District Motoring Enthusiast Club and the wonderful cars that come out for the day.   It is opened to all and we had competitors from as far away as Adelaide last year. It accumulates in the crowning of the best of the best on show day. It should be noted that the Bike that won one of the classes last year is usually found it proud of place and admired in the lounge room!

The Community Bank Heywood & District Pet Competion

This is always hotly contested with our specialist judge, Vet Sally, under considerable pressure with the calibre of well looked after, well loved pets. This is open to anyone and is free to enter and starts at 11am sharp at on the show green between the oval and hall.

The Poultry section also has classes for Fancy Backyard chooks that need to have no fancy pedigree to compete other than being a much loved backyard chook.
