Some crimes reported

Recent stories

Some of the criminal activity in the district is reported by SA Police on its website.

According to the site, reports in recent months included the arrest of two men who triggered an alarm in June at a Blackwell Rd waste management business.

The criminals aged 39 and 36 were charged for stealing power tools, chainsaw parts and a stereo.

In late July CCTV footage was released by police on their website regarding a May 11, break in of a Naracoorte chemist. The thief had gained access by jemmying open the back roller door.

In August Naracoorte police issued a statement urging people to lock their vehicles at all times following August 20, security camera footage of a man attempting to break into a vehicle.

On September 4, police issued a statement on their website regarding a car break-in at Naracoorte, where the suspect “left behind his getaway bike”.

“About 1am Monday, 4 September, a man was at home asleep when he woke up and saw a light outside,” police said in the statement.

“When the victim went outside he saw another man rummaging through his car.

“The victim disturbed the suspect who ran off, leaving behind the bicycle.

“Police are trying to determine if the bike was stolen.”

Also early in September, Police issued a statement on their website that a man had been arrested following a spate of graffiti offences at Naracoorte.

Police reported that numerous businesses and buildings were marked with graffiti throughout the Naracoorte CBD in the early hours of Monday, August 29.

“Police appealed to the local community for assistance and were called to Park Terrace, Naracoorte about 1.30pm on Tuesday, 30 August,” the statement said.

“A suspect was quickly apprehended by police, allegedly in possession of spray cans.

“The 25-year-old Marcollat man was arrested and charged with 18 counts of property damage and bailed to appear in the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on 1 November.”

Regarding an August break-in on Carters Rd, police were successful in catching the offenders and issued a statement on September 14.

“Following an investigation, on Tuesday the 5 September Naracoorte Police attended a local home and arrested two 31-year-old local men,” police said in the statement.

“Police did not locate the stolen items, but did find other property, in particular other power tools and gardening equipment, suspected of having been stolen.”

The men will appear in court on November 1.

In another statement issued on September 14, police said two people will face court after illicit substances were located in their Naracoorte home this month.

They were bailed to appear at the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on November 15.
