Youth Centre officially in hands of Council

Recent stories

Remote Concrete NT officially handed over the keys to the Tennant Creek Youth Centre to Barkly Regional Council this week.

Remote Concrete NT’s Managing Director Jared Baldwin met with Acting Mayor Russell O’Donnell (pictured) met at the site for the celebratory occasion on Wednesday.

Acting Mayor O’Donnell thanked all the contractors and government departments for coming together to deliver the project to Council.

“In the event of adversity through Covid and the resulting price rises of materials and labour costs due to the effects of Covid, it’s great this facility can now be opened,” he said.

“This project has involved a majority of local contractors, which has created jobs for the town.

“Now that we have occupancy, we can start putting a plan in place to open the Centre for the youth of Tennant Creek and allow them to enjoy the facility and engage with Council staff. Plans are underway for an opening, stay tuned for date!”

Council approved the employment of three full-time staff for the Youth Centre at its Ordinary Meeting yesterday. The Tennant Creek Youth Centre was funded by the Building Better Regions Fund in 2019.
