Denmark’s World Cup game plan

Recent stories

Denmark aims to gain international tourism exposure by luring the Danish women’s soccer team to the town before the FIFA Women’s World Cup in July and August.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand with two of three group stage matches in Perth/Boorloo.

The Denmark, Europe, national team has picked the city as a base for the tournament.

A video has been released in which Denmark, WA, promises to cheer on the Danish team during the tournament and invites them to visit outside of the competition schedule.

In the video, the Denmarkian women’s soccer club, Tourism WA, the Shire of Denmark and Denmark Chamber of Commerce all welcome the Danish national team to WA for the tournament.

Shire president Ceinwen Gearon said the presence of the Danish national team in the State was an opportunity to gain exposure that was too good to pass up.

Tourism WA managing director Carolyn Turnbull has applauded the grand gesture for the little tourist town for what will be the State’s biggest ever women’s sporting event.

There was a standing invitation for all Danes to visit Denmark, WA.
