Bundjalung Nghari – Indigenise

Experience original theatre with Bundjalung Nghari (meaning: story), a collection of performed stories, poems and essays, penned by Bundjalung writers.

The stories lift the curtain on how we view homelands and estates, clan and kinship, and the legacy that lives on in the everyday. Four multi-disciplinary, creative thinkers and writers share thought-provoking stories, reflecting on the collisions and intersections of belonging in two worlds with opposed philosophies and perceptions of what land and ownership truly means. Experience brave and honest, original theatre from NORPA, made from the ground up.

Bundjalung Nghari is presented by NORPA in association with Byron Writers Festival and features stories by Kylie Caldwell, Steven Oliver, Ella Noah Bancroft and Daniel Browning. Curated by Rhoda Roberts.

When: Saturday 27 August (4pm and 7.30pm); Sunday 28 August (7.30pm).
Where: Brunswick Picture House

Love for One Night
– Presented by NORPA and The Eltham Hotel

Country pubs are gathering places made magic by night, where love beings, blooms and sometimes dies, often all in that night. One of life’s mysteries is where, when, why, or who love will strike, filling hearts with joy and torment in equal measure.

Love for One Night is a circle dance of intersecting love stories told in the playful and theatrical style of NORPA’s sell-out shows Railway Wonderland and Dreamland. A series of brief encounters are told through dialogue, movement and song — while stunning visual effects add to the electric ambiance. A dexterous cast lead us through love in all its aspects — from deep friendship to infatuation, romance and heartbreak and of course sexual attraction and unbridled lust. The Eltham Hotel provides an atmospheric backdrop, a magical place to gather and flirt and fall head over heels in love. For one night.

When: 7.30pm Thursday 8 September to Saturday 24 September, 2022
Where: The Eltham Hotel
