New owner at Bull & Barley Inn

Recent stories

Cambooya’s iconic Bull & Barley Inn has a new owner with Mick Dewar taking over from Bruce Dell, who has owned the hotel for the last 15 years.

The historic pub was built in 1902 when it was named the Cambooya Railway Hotel.

The name was changed to the Bull & Barley Inn in 1978. The sale of the hotel was settled earlier this month. Selling agent Geoff Percy from Ray White Commercial in Toowoomba said the new owner has also purchased the block next door.

“Bruce Dell has owned the Bull & Barley Inn for the past 15 years, building a business in a small country town that did over 1,000 meals a week and was so popular you had to book to get a table,” Mr Percy said.

“Mick Dewar, who has experience in the hospitality industry, has also purchased the block next door and intends to not only continue the great service but expand the hotel.

“Bruce is happy to see the hotel pass on to a motivated guy who wants to expand it.

“I would like to thank Bruce for entrusting the hotel to me to sell and wish Mick the best for the future.”

Mick Dewar has had extensive experience in the hospitality industry across Queensland in places as diverse at Toowoomba, Birdsville and Ayr, where he owned a backpackers’ hostel before making the move to Cambooya.
