After taking a Covid-forced hiatus for the past two years, the Laidley Spring Festival is back for 2022, with a raft of new and exciting events set to make their Festival debut.
The theme for the 2022 Laidley Spring Festival is ‘Swing into Spring’ and Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council, and the community, were excited to welcome the event back come September.
“Due to uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 restrictions at the time, we made the tough decision to cancel the Festival in 2020, with the event itself going ahead in a scaled-back version in 2021.
“We are thrilled to welcome the event back this year and look forward to it being even bigger and better than previous years,” Mayor Milligan said.
Set to make its Festival debut is the Twilight Feast & Fest.
Everyone is welcome to join in on the festival feels at the Laidley Recreational Reserve on Friday 9 September from 5pm – 9pm as the parkland comes alive for live entertainment, and a mix of local and international food vendors. Pack your picnic blanket and enjoy this free, family event in the heart of the Laidley CBD.
This year, residents and visitors can enjoy Swinging into Spring in style at The Garden Party, set to take place on Saturday 10 September!
Tickets are now on sale for the chance to enjoy a delectable lunch and drinks from the marquee overlooking Lake Dyer, join in the lawn games and soak up the modern jazz beats from the live band.
Laidley’s Ferrari Park will be a hive of activity on the Saturday, when Buy from the Bush Queensland Markets are held from 8am – 3pm. Be amazed by the creators, makers and entrepreneurs that make up the Buy from the Bush Queensland stallholders.
“Stallholder applications are also open, with more than 70 currently signed up for the event.
“We will also welcome back an event favourite, the Street Parade, to this year’s Festival.
“Street parade entries are now open, and I would encourage community groups and businesses to put forward an entry.
“Swing into Spring can celebrate everything from our region’s stunning scenery, agricultural and horticultural presence or pay tribute to the historical drives that are dotted across the region.
“Each year we are seeing floats getting bigger and better than ever, so I am sure this year will be no exception.
“Other event favourites, including the Spring Gem Show, Quilt and Craft Expo, Under 5’s Day and Horticultural Expo will also be returning in 2022, so make sure you mark the dates in your diary now for what’s set to be a wonderful community event,” Mayor Milligan said.
