There is good news for lovers of Mexican food. Taco Love Bros restaurant has moved from Lismore to Casino.

Chef Dylan Morris and partner Sappho Rose had already planned the move well before the floods hit in late February.

“We were coming here to spread our wings,” Dylan said.

Their Lismore shop was a starting point and when the opportunity came to move to Casino, they took it.

“It was a risk to take the shop on after all the covid lockdowns,” Dylan said but within days of opening in Casino, Dylan was putting up ‘sold out of food’ signs on the front window.

Casino customers have been friendly and supportive, Dylan said.

The former butcher who grew up in Lismore has worked in hospitality for 15 years.

Mexican food interested him because it was a point of difference.

“I do all the cooking,” Dylan said. He stirs the sauce stewing in the tall pots on the stove.

He has noticed the firm favourites of his Casino customers.

“They love their beef here, followed by chicken,” he said.

For the non-meat eaters, he was selling “stacks of pumpkin and feta”.

Taco Love Bros at 133 Barker St is open Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, 11.30am-2.30pm and 5-8pm.

Six new shops have come to Casino including Lismore Watchmakers, Emily Bridal, Bronco Nation and SOS Phone Repairs, all in Barker St. Dave’s Bakehouse from Kyogle has opened a second shop at the Woolworths Plaza and PRD Real Estate, also from Kyogle has opened a second shop in Walker St.
