Freshman’s showjumping

Maldon Pony Club kicked the new year off with a huge weekend of showjumping. On Saturday the club held a twilight freshman’s showjumping event.

Freshman’s showjumping days are great confidence building tools for both horses and riders as you get to jump complete rounds without the pressure of a competition. Riders pay $5 a round to a maximum of 5 rounds.

This was the first fundraiser the club has been able to hold in the last two years and over $1,000 was raised with over 40 people riding. It was a great success and lots of fun was had by all! A huge thank you to our sponsor for the day, Bendigo Radiology and our wonderful volunteers. A special mention must go to Melissa Gillespie and Nicki Chalmers for getting the event up and running.

First rally

On Sunday we held our first rally of the year at the grounds. There was a great turnout of members coming to utilise the two show jumping rings that we had set up from the day before. It was great to see the children’s confidence grow and some big jumps were achieved! It’s an exciting year ahead for the club with lots of events and competitions planned. Our next rally is Sunday 6 March.
