In their first season in the Ardlethan Barellan District Cricket Association (ABDCA) competition, the Narrandera Carpheads will be playing for silverware on Saturday, with the in-form side heading towards the T20 Harvest Break grand final.

The Carpheads, who finished second after losing just one game during the six-round regular season, will take on the top of the table Coolamon Rovers for grand final glory.

Narrandera skipper Brodie Perram was stoked to see his side playing in a grand final, and he simply hoped his players enjoyed the occasion.

“It’s always good to make any grand final you are a part of,” Perram said.

“You never know when the last one will be, so players need to make the most of it.”

Perram is still working on his grand final list, and he hoped to be full strength come Saturday.

“We are not (full strength) yet, but we are hoping to be,” Perram said.

“We will be as strong as we possibly can and we will give it a good go.”

The in-form Jordan Camm will lead his side’s chances, with the talented all-rounder averaging 28.5 with the bat and 13 with the ball from four appearances, and while Perram acknowledged Camm was an instrumental member of the side, he said he had a strong and well-rounded team that would get the job done.

“He has been batting well and has been very handy with the ball as well,” Perram said.

“We are lucky though. We’ve got a very rounded squad.

“Every bloke that has come in has done their job and I’ve been really happy with that so far.”

Carpheads proved too strong for young Yanco

The Narrandera Carpheads needed to beat Yanco Cricket Club in round six of the ABDCA T20 competition to qualify for the grand final.

Playing at Narrandera Park Oval, an experienced Carpheads were simply too strong for Yanco, winning by seven wickets in the end.

Still, Perram found praise for his opposition, suggesting they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

“Yanco is a very inexperienced side,” Perram said.

“They have a lot of young fellas, those in their 16 and 17s, and they will be a very good side if they can stick together for the next three or four years.”

In a big match for both sides, Narrandera won the toss and sent Yanco into bat before bowling them out 7/78 after 15.4 overs.

Cooper Irons and Sam Williamson led the way with the Kookaburra in hand, taking 3/16 and 3/24 from their respective four-over spells.

Brodie Perram also led by example, taking 2/17 from 3.4 overs and Jordan Camm was sharp with the new ball, taking 1/7 from his two-over spell.

The Carpheads made light work of their opposition’s run chase, reaching the target at 3/79 after only 9.3 overs.

Jordan Camm and Jono Schofield opened the batting, scoring 11 and 9 respectively.

Tom Butterfield top scored for Narrandera with 26, and Jonathon Doyle score 22 not out as the Carpheads won their game, in-turn securing their spots in the ABDCA decider.
