Mulpha Australia has snapped up a vineyard in Lovedale, growing its tourism reach in NSW’s Hunter Valley wine region.

The boutique Emma’s Cottage Vineyard is located on Wilderness Road and comprises a three-hectare established vineyard on 12-hectares of land,  with a fully licensed cellar door and 40-seat café with a commercial kitchen.

“Emma’s Cottage Vineyard is a welcome addition to our premium portfolio that will capitalise on that trend as we look to rebound strongly into 2022 and beyond,” said Greg Shaw, CEO of Mulpha Australia.

Additionally the property includes a five-bedroom two-storey family homestead and four self-contained two- to four-bedroom cottages, with ample room for value add opportunities for further accommodation.

“While the past 18 months have been difficult for most tourism operators, one benefit is that it has reawakened people’s interest in enjoying unique regional experiences in their own country,” added Shaw.

Emma’s Cottage Vineyard sits two hours out from Sydney with easy access via the M1 freeway. It is also adjacent to the historic Rothbury cemetery and within close proximity to Mulpha’s Bimbadgen Estate Winery, which was expanded by the group in 2017.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the rising stars of the Bimbadgen team to create something different in the Hunter whilst allowing the Bimbadgen brand to stay true to its winemaking roots,” said Belinda Stapleton, general manager of hospitality at Mulpha.

“While initially we will continue to run the existing business, we see potential to further develop a bespoke offering which will be created and launched in 2022,” concluded Stapleton.

Earlier this year, Mulpha moved forward on its sustainable smart city, the Norwest master planned community, having lodged a development application for the first stage of the $1 billion development in north western Sydney.

While also commencing on the group’s  landmark timber commercial building in Norwest, only the third of its kind in Sydney.
