Four schools came together to battle it out on the soft-ball field in Tennant Creek for the Annual Barkly Region Central Softball Cup. The girls enjoyed a skill session to warm themselves up before the competition started.
Elliott beat the combined team of Tennant Creek Primary and High in a close game 5 runs to 4. The students from Alekarenge/Tennant Creek Primary went down to TCP/TCH by 9 runs. Elliott were confident at the start of their game against Alekarenge/TCP but soon realised they had to put in 100% to try and win the game. Unfortunately they were beaten 10 runs to 0.
As all teams had won a game, a countback of runs for and against had to be done to decide who was going to play in the grand final. The Alekarenge/TCP team had some great hits and in the second innings they managed to get the first 3 TCP/TCH batters out giving them an advantage going into the last innings. The Alekarenge/TCP team were eventually crowned winners beating TCP/TCH 4 runs to 1 run.
A great day for our young softballers across the Central Barkly Region and we hope to build the numbers of teams in 2022.
