After the bitter disappointment of not being able to have a concert last year, there was an extra level of anticipation as an audience of several hundred family and friends gathered on the north oval in preparation for an evening of performances by the students with the theme “Books Alive”.
Each of the class groups performed to a song selected to match a popular children’s book, both old and not so old, with the selected books ranging from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books as well as books by Dr Suess and R.L. Stein.
The musical choices were also varied, but selected to match up the tone of the books and from various decades so even grandparents would recognise at some tunes.
The students were excited and the audience delighted by an evening of family friendly entertainment that was sorely missed in town, and good to see back in full swing again.
