Ewan Amateur Turf Club is celebrating country racing’s heritage on the weekend of 24th and 25th September at Stockyard Creek with their first TAB meeting to be televised nation-wide on Sky Racing.

This year marks the 50th year of racing at Stockyard Creek for the Ewan Amateur Turf Club. The auspicious occasion has been elevated with the club being allocated their first TAB meeting on Friday.

To mark the occasion, the $30,000 Ewan Cup – Queensland’s richest race that day – will serve as a qualifier for this year’s Country Cups Challenge, with the winner going on to run at Doomben as part of the TAB Queensland Summer Racing Carnival.

President Dave Woodhouse said “It is an honour to be given this TAB meeting date and we are excited to televise our event live to the nation. This incentive will attract new participants to our region and cement firmly, our footprint in the industry. We must also acknowledge the ongoing support of Racing Queensland.”

After what was a Covid impacted race weekend last year, Ewan Races 2021 is returning to the family focussed event it has become renowned for with attendees being treated to a weekend of competitive, country racing as well as a range of social activities including micro fashions of the field, macro fashions of the field, a children’s fancy dress and sports morning, a fun run, free meet and greet barbecue, calcuttas and cabarets each evening.

In addition, Sky Racing personalities Michael Charge and Tony Wode will participate in a tipping challenge on 24th September, with all proceeds going to the Queensland Off-The-Track Program and the National Jockeys Trust.

Punters will be able to follow the tipping contest on Racing Queensland’s digital channels.

The Ewan Amateur Turf club looks forward to seeing you on the weekend of the 24th and 25th September as we honour the true spirit of country racing.
