Emma Price, Muttaburra Amateur Turf Club, 25 August 2021
What a great day it was!
The club and entire Muttaburra community couldn’t be prouder of Rodney and Maureen Little’s achievement, winning their first ever Muttaburra Cup with Boingo.
What made the victory even sweeter was getting a quinella result, with stable mate Jarhead crossing the line close behind.
In the week before our annual race meet Rodney spoke to Racing Queensland for their weekly ‘Club Spotlight’. Rodney said that a winner in the Muttaburra Cup had eluded him for his whole career, but he believed in 2021 it might just be the year he finally broke through.
Rodney and Maureen were both born and bred in Muttaburra. They have been involved in racing in Muttaburra for over fifty years, but had never had success in the 1400m Muttaburra Cup. That is until last Saturday. Their dedication, contributions and hard work were recognised at our Centenary race meeting in 2019, where both Rodney and Maureen were presented with life membership of the club.
The Little stable has seen great success at numerous race meetings over the last month.
The committee can’t wait to add the ‘Little’ name to the Cup.
Definitely one for the history books!
