Tennant Creek’s NAIDOC festivities ended on a high note on Saturday with a community gathering at Nyinkka Nyunyu.

Tjupi Band played their hearts out for the crowd, even being joined on stage by Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin, who got a reminder of how long it has been since he played hand drums, and what muscles he needs to use to play them.

The bacon and egg sandwiches and coffee were popular, but café workers and volunteers kept the lines moving quickly.

With the jumping castle, face painting and even a visit from Donald Duck the kids were able to have a barrel of fun while the adults enjoyed the live music.

A great finale to a week of activities that the NAIDOC Committee should be proud of.
