Jason Dunemann. Tennant Creek Darts hosted its annual Darrell “Bear” Logue Memorial Golden Nugget Tournament last weekend. The 34th edition of this fabulous tournament brought players from all over the country – 53 men and 20 ladies, including 10 locals, 18 from other parts of the NT and 45 from interstate.

Equestrian photographer Felicity Clay is passionate about saving the Australian Brumby and fans of her work can contribute to the cause through the purchase of her annual Brumby calendar. “I've been photographing the Brumbies in the Barmah National Park since 2018,” Felicity said.

Sean Cunningham. Narrandera boxer Jesse Riddell has made his debut in the ring following his selec ­tion in an indigenous All Stars team taking on The Rest Of The World boxers in Sydney. A popular local multisport competition which consists of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances, the event attracted triathletes from across the country ...

Mother and daughter Carly Loughnan and Asha, 12, took part in the Australian Brumby Challenge at Wesburn Park in Gippsland on the weekend ... Asha finished second in a strong field of 19 Brumbies just 120 days out of the wild ... These Brumbies have been caught from the wild by passive trapping, from either Bogong High Plains in Victoria or Kosciuszko National Park or Bago State Forest in NSW.

The whites run when juvenile western rock lobsters undergo a synchronised moult in late spring actually starts in the Two Rocks to Cervantes region before getting underway later in northern areas such as Kalbarri. During the whites run recreational fishers, who need a licence, flock to the Two Rocks marina and other areas so they can head out to check their pots.

Pam Dillon. Two days of various multi sports had the students laughing, smiling and shouting for joy. The sessions conducted were aimed at developing skills for different year levels ... Students in Years 4 to 6 worked focused on improving their skills and experimented with cricket and paddle tennis bats using various types of balls.

In less than 48 hours, Bracknell Lodge was transformed into an arena, hosting the ‘Ride for a Roof’ event raising money for the newly-formed Common Ground Foundation. The event was organised to raise money to purchase a house in Toowoomba in which families can stay while they have a loved one in hospital. And raise money it did.

Now there’s no excuse not to play a round at Yamba Golf and Country Club in even the most extreme weather after last week’s unveiling of a high-tech golf simulator which uses tournament technology to deliver a realistic golf experience. The only one of its kind on the Far North Coast, Yamba Golf Simulators Trackman facility uses radar technology used to track missiles to relay specific details of a golfers swing and ball contact to deliver high resolution 3D graphics.

The South Australian Wooden Boat Festival (SAWBF) will be sailing into new territory for the April 2023 Festival, with Coorong Quays hosting the two-day event at the Alexandrina Cove Lifestyle Village, Hindmarsh Island. This biennial occasion will showcase the finest wooden boats from our region and beyond.

Tania Hay. Equestrian Tasmania’s Horse of the Year show for 2022 has finally been held. The event is usually in January but due to Covid and flood waters it was postponed four times before it was staged at the magnificent Coal Valley Equestrian Centre at Cambridge.

Colin Ashton-Graham. Cyclists, 960 in total, from 160 teams including two Denmark teams raced on November 3 in the Australian Teams Cycling Championships at the Tour of Margaret River in Nannup ... The gruelling Margaret River tour is set up like a mini Tour De France, with teams competing over five race stages totalling 223km and 3440m elevation (equivalent to climbing Mt Kosciuszko and then Bluff Knoll).

Kendall Jennings. It has been a challenging start to the 2022/23 cricket season for the Murray Raiders Under 16s. Road closures have made it difficult for the team and players to participate in the Swan Hill Cricket Association matches.

More than 100 rock fishers have walked away better educated in how to stay safe after Surf Life Saving NSW’s popular rock fishing safety program,  Gone Fishing, was successfully held at Avoca Beach ... more than 300 people ... learned all about vital safety measures and skill-building techniques specific to the popular but often deadly pastime.

People living in regional Western Australia are being invited to complete a Department of Transport survey to help shape the future of bike riding in their local community. Three surveys targeting people who live in or visit the Gascoyne, Great Southern, and Kalgoorlie-Boulder regions are now open for comment on the  My Say Transport website, with the resulting feedback used to shape long-term cycling strategies for each region.

Sarah Martin. Cooktown tadpole Maiika Hegamaea has blitzed a Far North record time at the recent Dimbulah Swim Club meet and brought home six first place ribbons to add to her collection. The seven-year-old has been a confident swimmer since she was a toddler and has been a member of the Cooktown Amateur Swimming Club since she was four.

After Katy Brown notched up her fourth broken bone at the tender age of 10, her mum decided that if she couldn’t buy her daughter a safe pony she had better breed one ... it was the choice of the Highland that set in motion an association that would become a life’s work for the young animal lover – saving livestock breeds facing extinction.

The competition arenas at this year's return of Equitana to Melbourne after four years were filled with some of Australia’s finest horses.

The re-established Upper Coastal sporting facilities working group held its first meeting on Wednesday, November 9 at the Lancelin Sporting Complex. Back in June sporting clubs were disappointed with the Shire of Gingin council’s decision to not re-establish the working group to undertake a review of the Upper Coastal sporting facilities master plan, which had proposed “the creation of an active sports space in Lancelin, with more passive sports located in Ledge Point”.

Although she stars as a goalie, Jordon Fenton-Anderson, a 14-year-old from Cambooya, who has been scoring goals in her own way, recently returned to Australia from her first time wearing the green and gold, competing in the sport of futsal. Jordon was a member of the girls’ futsal team to tour the United Kingdom in October 2022.
