It’s Junee Show Time Again! Get Ready for the Spectacular 133rd Junee Show on October 28, 2023. The excitement is building as the Junee Show Society prepares to welcome visitors to the grand 133rd Junee Show, set to take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
Surfers front the monster waves: fear, froth and fun at BBFF
It’s the Byron Bay Film Festival, so there's always going to be surf films ... Topping the bill is Emmy-winning filmmaker Paul Taublieb’s documentary Ground Swell: The Other Side of Fear, which poses the question: what prompts big wave surfers to travel the globe to find absurdly colossal waves to throw themselves into, tackling natural forces in a contest that any rational human would see as insane?
Exhibitors out in force as Perth Royal returns to full program
The Perth Royal Show saw a return to a full program this year after COVID caused a massive reduction in classes offered in 2022. Entries across the hack section were of excellent quality, reflecting a return to business as usual after the disruption caused by the pandemic.
Annual show success
Sheafs tossed, utes pushed, gumboots thrown, horses paraded, Clydesdales ‘clopped’, sheep shorn, ribbons worn, bands delighted, puppets thrilled, dogs jumped, flowers impressed, quilts amazed, artwork admired, photos discussed, bars attended, food tempted, smiles beamed, children played, laughter echoed, winners cheered… yes, the 159th Maldon and Baringhup Annual Spring Show was a crowd-pleasing success last Sunday.
Expo strikes a chord
A record number of 25 exhibitors showcased the resources that are available to communities before, during and after an emergency at the North East Emergency Expo in Corryong on Saturday.
Rally returns after setbacks
The Corryong Historic Machinery Club is welcoming returning participants, visitors and locals to its 2023 Rally this weekend; the first event since 2019 following the ‘Black Summer’ bushfires, the pandemic and a ‘big wet’.
Toowoomba hosting QCWA art expo
The QCWA State Exhibition of Creative & Practical Arts (Expo) is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 28 and 29 October at St Saviour’s Hall in Toowoomba ... A QCWA spokesperson said the Expo will showcase the talents and versatility of QCWA members and friends and will also present to the public a diverse range of local artisans.
Kaniva Show Quickshears
At 3 o’clock the annual speed shear at the Kaniva Show kicked off with 50 entries between intermediate and open ... Some very fast times, under 40 seconds to gain a place in the 6-person final for intermediate and under 30 for the open section with a few legendary shearers making their way to the truck to shear one young merino lamb.
A cracking good show –”‚a weekend for all the family
Quill. Who said Friday the 13th is supposed to be unlucky? It certainly wasn’t for Donald’s Annual P & A Show, which opened its gates on Friday for two days of fun for the whole family ... Of particular interest, and new to the Donald Show was Stewart Bryant’s literally cracking performance.
It’s show time! Limestone Coast Wine Show
The 22nd Limestone Coast Wine Show ... a panel of 16 expert critics led by new chief of judges Philip Rich will begin tasting nearly 450 of the Limestone Coast’s best wines in the heart of terra rossa country at the Coonawarra Soldiers Memorial Hall. This year’s guest international judge, Sweden-based wine consultant Madeleine Stenwreth, is among those relishing the role of sampling so many quality entries over the coming days.

166th Longford Show, 21 October 2023

Lismore Show, 19-21 October 2023
The Elders Back Lismore Show will return to the Lismore Showground on 19, 20 and 21 October. For 138 years, the Show is where our community comes together to have a bit of fun.
MONA – ‘Heavenly Beings: Icons of the Christian Orthodox World’
The exhibition is of Orthodox icons and includes pieces from eleven Australian collections, including six public institutions: Mona, Art Gallery of Ballarat, Art Gallery of South Australia, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the University of Sydney, and the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, Caboolture. Contributions from private collectors come from Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, and London ... This exhibition is the most significant collection of Orthodox icons presented in Australia that can be recalled ... The overall effect is surely one of surprise for the uninitiated and awe inspiring for the person who understands the genre.
Buloke Times editorial: No time like show time
Switch on the television, or radio, and the news headlines are bound to be dominated by worldwide death and destruction, and hatred among neighbouring countries, – or, closer to home, by political opponents. We live in troublesome times. Thankfully, it’s not all bad news – particularly in our part of Victoria, where October is widely known as Show Month ... All set for the Show!
Not to be missed this Sunday (15 October) is the Maldon & Baringhup Agricultural Show, which runs from 9am to 4pm (with free entertainment for the children starting at 10am) at the Maldon racecourse ... The [Tarrangower] Times caught up with Kristina Forbes last weekend, who was in the process of finalising arrangements for entries into six (that’s right, six!) categories of the floral art section of the Show.

Corryong puts on a great show
The 114th Corryong Show at the Corryong Recreation Reserve on Saturday has been hailed a great success, particularly in the face of similar events across the country going into recess. The twilight event again proved popular with healthy numbers going through the gate.
