Crowds flock to Pilton concert

The Festival of Small Halls stopped in at Pilton Soldiers Memorial Hall, performing in front of a big crowd.

Lee ann Weekes from down the road at West Haldon opened the show.

She was followed by Brisbane-based cellist Monique Clare and Canadian musician Shane Pendergast.

Pilton Hall treasurer Janette Frahm said the committee was thrilled by a crowd of 120.

“We’re really happy. It was a great night,” she said.

“The artists performed really well.”

Mrs Frahm said the event attracted visitors from Toowoomba, many of whom did not previously know the Pilton Hall was there.

Following the concert’s success, the Pilton Hall is hoping to host similar events in the future.

The Festival of Small Halls is a series of music tours that takes folk artists to small halls across Queensland.

The halls at Felton, Cambooya and Allora have been visited previously.
