Embracing a huge restoration project means there’s always something new to keep you out of trouble. In the case of Nhill Silo, large-scale maintenance works are now underway.

Over the weekend Kaniva and Nhill saw an influx of traffic due to the AFL Gather Round which was held in Adelaide from Thursday to Sunday ... Kaniva’s Little Guys Pizza owner Nakita Jewell said, "We were really busy and had a few repeat customers on the way back, which is a good sign." Nhill’s Wimmera Bakery Manager Teresa Ross said, "Both last Friday and Monday have been so busy, which is awesome. We have sold out of everything on both days. It’s great for the little business that has struggled to stay open over covid."

The opening weekend of the Kangaroo Island Easter Art Exhibition has been a resounding success with higher-than expected visitors, increased artist participation and healthy sales. Lori Smith winning the esteemed the Diana Keir Art Award with her oil portrait of a local Islander, called Staring at the Sun.
A fair to remember
The Maldon Easter Fair has once again drawn thousands of visitors to the enchanting town, leaving everyone in awe of its remarkable community. The 146th event had it all; an ambitious celebration of the humble scone, a genuine back street billy cart race and a vividly picturesque street parade.

Rain and cold didn’t deter fans from the pull of Quamby
Despite the rain and arctic conditions, Tractor Pull enthusiasts headed to the birthplace of Tractor Pulling in Australia, Quambatook, for the Annual Easter Tractor Pull. With two lanes available at Quambatook, a mini sled was held on one side for smaller vehicles, while the other hosted the executioner sled for the larger vehicles.

This year’s Man From Snowy River Bush Festival may well be the most successful in terms of numbers judging by the early arrivals in town this week. "We have managed to overcome several turbulent years to be genuinely excited with what we have in front of us in delivering the 2023 festival," said board chair, Cameron Jackson.

Emu greeting visitors and locals to Yamba

A busy time for the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre
There’s always something happening at the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre ... Last Tuesday, members of the Rolls Royce and Bentley Car Club called in on their way home from a rally in Hahndorf. They spent several hours hearing the stories of the men and women who trained at the Nhill RAAF Base during the ‘40s ... Lord Howe Island Board first detected Myrtle Rust recently was on the Island 3rd February 2023 ... On Monday 13th March, the Board held a meeting to discuss the situation and a decision was made to close the Permanent Park Preserve to try stop further spread of the disease ... This sudden decision to close the PPP, which comprises over 70 per cent of the Island, was unprecedented in the history of the Island and took everyone by surprise.

The southern walking tracks in the Permanent Park Preserve (PPP) were re-opened on March 31st, after a brief closure in response to the escalating risk of Myrtle rust to the critically endangered ecosystems within that section of the PPP. The entire PPP is now open in full to managed visitation.
