Belissima!

The descendants of the New Italy settlers couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate their 145th Anniversary at the New Italy Community Hall on Sunday, April 12.

Blue skies, gentle breeze, plenty of fresh pasta, wine and a cart full of gelato.

A record breaking attendance of 240 guests arrived in family groups and were welcomed by a roving accordion player performing familiar Italian melodies.

The festivities kicked off with a welcoming speech by New Italy Museum president Gail Williams who declared herself “Italian for a day”.

During a game of the Great Italian Trivia Quiz families had to divide into teams competing against each other for fame, glory and prizes.

Catering was by the Amici Team and desert by the Benilato Authentic Italian Gelato Cart.

Special guest on the day was descendant Lina Simeoni who is celebrating her 100th birthday this year.

A truly Italian day at New Italy. Living La Dolce Vita!
