The Golden Rivers Theatre Group (GRTG) is gearing up to deliver a thrilling blend of mystery, comedy, and audience interaction with their latest production.

“Oh, Horrors! It’s Murder!” will have audiences of all ages hooked as the talented cast present tales of mystery and intrigue. Play Director Rachel Warren said the play will offer an unforgettable experience.

“They’re in for mystery, murder and mayhem.” said Rachel

“It’s a murder mystery comedy. It’s got some audience participation in it, so come ready to be a part of the magic!”

“There is definitely someone evil who has committed a very foul murder, and we’re going to need everybody’s help to solve the heinous crime.”

The performance is set amongst the intriguing backdrop of a museum and the play unfolds with Professor Dirk Carlton, a renowned Egyptologist, unveiling his discovery of Pharaoh Menkaura’s tomb.

This year’s cast of 15 thespians includes two life members of GRTG and plenty of fresh faces.

“The actors have done a good job. We’ve got quite a few younger actors in the production who have just started,” stated Rachel.

“We started in March with auditions, and so from March till now they have been rehearsing. It’s quite a long time, everyone’s put in a lot of love, time and effort.”

Supporting the 15 on-stage actors is a three-person sound crew and a couple of behind-the-scenes helpers, contributing to sets, costumes and art. The event promises to be a feast for the eyes, from the finest threads adorning the actors to the stunning and colourful Egyptian sets and props. With their roots reaching back to 1999, the GRTG has been a tremendous vehicle in which talented locals can pursue their passion.

“There are lots of different ways to be involved in the theatre,” said Rachel.

“If you don’t want to be on stage, there are lots of roles.”

“It’s a great, inclusive environment for everybody to come and share their interest in the arts and their talents.”

The play opens with a Matinee on the first weekend (Sunday, August 3, at 2pm), followed by full weekends: Friday and Saturday evenings (August 8-9 and 15-16 at 7:30pm) and Sunday Matinees (August 10 and 17 at 2pm).

Tickets are on sale now via the GRTG website at www.grtg.com.au, or Golden Rivers Real Estate for the technically challenged. And yes, it’s family-friendly: “Absolutely, kids can come. It’s not too scary, with no foul language or adult content.” stated Director Rachel.
