Spring racing in the country will be at its best in Moree on the weekend of the 29th August to 31st August. The major fundraising weekend for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, is run in conjunction with the running of the Moree Cup.
The Club has adopted a new format this year, moving away from their traditional Father’s Day weekend and spreading the events over three days.
Friday night will be a chance for everyone to don their glamour with the Charity Ball. In recognition of their 50 Years of Service, the theme for the Ball will be A Touch of Gold. Guest speaker will be Daniel Mortimer, former NRL player and general manager of the family winery at Orange – Mortimers Wines. Guests will enjoy a 4-course meal matched with Mortimers Wines, have the chance to bid on some impressive auction items and win a swag of raffle prizes. Once that’s all finished guests can dance the night away with live band ‘Split Image’. The Dinner is in its 10th year and raises money for a very worthy service.
Saturday sees a new event with a 4 Person 9 Hole Golf Ambrose with a shotgun start in the afternoon, followed by the Moree Cup Calcutta at the Moree Golf Club from 6pm.
Sunday is Cup Day with the Showcase meeting handing out $300,000 of prizemoney & trophies, including the $55,000 Moree Cup and $50,000 Super Maiden races.
From Fashions on the Field to kids’ activities, this is sure to be a great day out. Patrons can pre-order Gourmet Grazing boxes and enjoy the atmosphere of race day in a trackside marquee that is available for the whole family to enjoy.
