Corryong celebrates milestone

The community is being invited to get on board for the the celebrations as Corryong marks its 150th anniversary this month with a week of community-led events, exhibitions and activities that mark its rich heritage, pioneering spirit and vibrant local culture.

Running from Sunday 20 July to Sunday 27 July, 2025, the ‘150 Years of Corryong’ commemoration will bring together residents, visitors and artists to share in the stories, momentous occasions and memories that have shaped the town’s story over generations.

A key highlight will be the Proclamation High Tea at Corryong Memorial Hall from 12.00pm on Sunday 20 July. Enjoy elegant finger food, live music from the Army Acoustic Duo and a dramatised re-enactment of Corryong’s naming by local students. Performances by the college band and local vocalists will add to the celebratory atmosphere, along with a stirring finale by a lone piper. Period-dressed nurses will serve tea as part of a Corryong Health display of vintage nursing practices. Tickets: $60 per person (tables of 10). Licensed bar available.

Another must-see is Walk the Line: Corryong’s Timeline with interactive QR codes offering an immersive trip through the town’s history.

Towong Shire mayor, Cr Andrew Whitehead, said the 150-year milestone is an important moment of reflection and celebration.

“Corryong has always had a strong sense of community, resilience and pride,” he said.

“This milestone is a chance to honour the people who built this town and celebrate the spirit that continues to define it today.
