Rain no match for the Emu Creek spirit

Recent stories

Threatening skies didn’t deter fans of Emu Creek State School as they descended upon the iconic local institution to celebrate 150 years of education – as the skies opened up, hundreds of past students, staff and community members ignored the weather and joined with dignitaries to mark the special occasion.

The school’s sports oval was covered in food and recreational activities that attracted attention right from the start.

The official proceedings began with the unearthing and updating of a time capsule.

A highlight of the event was the formal naming of the Liz Donnelly Library in honour of the lady who, having been a student there, later gave more than 40 years service as a teacher aide.

Tours of the school proved popular and a roll call of past and present students revealed just how many were keen to return for the event.
