An uncontrolled fire sparked by lightning flared in thick scrub 20kms south of Lucindale, last week.
At the time of press more than 110 firefighters had been involved in the Fox fire which had burned through more than 600 hectares of native vegetation.
Two large air tankers were called in from Canberra and Geelong to assist other water bombers, CFS crews, farm fire units and forestry firefighters.
According to an update from SA Country Fire Service last Sunday, mild temperatures and light rain over the fire had assisted firefighters to strengthen and create control lines around most of the fire edge.
About 2-3mm of rain fell over the fireground overnight (Saturday/Sunday last week), which assisted in reducing fire activity; however, high south westerly winds had created challenging conditions for crews with gusts of up to 60km/h at that time.
The SA Country Fire Service had predicted the fire to continue burning within a large patch of private native scrub and plantation timber over the coming days.
