Foster & District Agricultural Show

It may be the end of Summer, but it is not the end of fun in South Gippsland. As we look forward to cooler weather, and a good soaking of rain come the change of season, we also look forward to one last glimmer of fun, the Foster Show. Established in 1903, with over 117 shows under its belt, the Foster Show will host a spectacular day event for families, friends, the community and beyond.

Showcasing the districts talents and skills across agriculture, home crafts and competition, the show is set to be a big one in 2025.

So what can you expect this year? On Saturday 22 nd February, thousands of people will herd to the Foster Showgrounds. The famous exhibit shed will be packed with entries, from jams and preserves, the competitive ANZAC biscuits, the biggest grown zucchini, and Best Rose in Show, everything in here is a delight for the eyes. The increasingly popular dog high jump will have people on the edge of their seats in the grandstand, whilst woodchoppers will sweat it out for their winnings at our Bendigo Bank Woodchop area.

Goats and sheep are magnificently on display, with a local shearer demonstrating how to shear the wool, which gets taken directly to volunteers spinning and utilising the wool to make clothing. The spectacular sights do not stop there, with sheaf tossing, whip cracking, Rock n Roll dancing, horse events, on-farm challenge presentations, photography, art, rides, poultry (including People’s Choice for best bird), and even giant pumpkins with the heaviest pumpkin weighing a whopping 85.9kg in 2024!

There are plenty of new attractions to the 2025 Foster Show to keep you coming back for more! The inaugural Calf Classic will showcase poddy calves that have been hand-reared since Spring, 2024. This event will pay homage to the Calf Club competitions held in Hedley in the 1960s. The Foster Show looks forward to encouraging the next generation to develop husbandry and management skills with animals, as well as highlighting the human-animal bond with their calves. At the end of the Avenue of Agriculture on show day, you will find Ferret Racing! An addition to the 2025 show, 25 ferrets will race throughout the day with one winner to be crowned the SG Offroad Ferret Race Fastest Ferret. A new highlight to the very popular Foster Show Fashion Stage, the Mullet Competition is sure to turn heads.

Planning for show day is easy, with plenty of information available at www.fostershow.com or via our Facebook page www.facebook.com/fosteragshow
Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Kids under 12 are FREE in 2025, so bring the entire family for the day out! Kids between 13-17 are only $5 entry.

There will be an early bird special for adult tickets, $12 for tickets purchased before 31st January 2025.

Parking spaces near the showgrounds get snapped up quickly so there will be a shuttlebus available from the following sites in Foster on the day: Foster Secondary College, VLine Bus Stop in town, Foster Vet Clinic (Court St) and the Rail Trail Car Park.

Do not miss the action at the Foster Show, check out the timetable for the day, or the show day map of the grounds via our website.

A family friendly event, the Foster Show has lots of free things to see and do on show day. There will be 300 free showbags for kids as part of the Golden Brick Road Showbag trail, along with magic shows, wildlife display, petting zoo, face-painting, animals on show, and chainsaw carving displays, just to name a few. Spending the day at the Foster Show is a fantastic way to experience a farming community, with lots of fun and friendly faces. We’ll see you there!
