I love everything about Christmas – Victoria’s giant wreaths bring joy

Recent stories

Victoria Mathew reckons her name should be Mrs Christmas.

She really loves Christmas – the mother of six children and grandmother to six started making Christmas decorations when she had her first child.

“Christmas is my passion,” Victoria said.

“I love everything about Christmas. It’s when I shine brightest.”

Her joy of “everything Christmas” can be seen in the way she makes her giant Christmas wreaths. They are huge, constructed out of wire and packed with decorations and lights.

She makes them at her home in Tabulam and sells them.

The larger wreaths cost $80 but she will also make smaller ones. She’ll customise the design depending on what people want.

“I never do anything on a small scale.”

On the day IndyNR.com met Victoria, she is on her way to the neonatal intensive care unit at Lismore Base Hospital. She has a red, gingerbread themed wreath that she is donating to the ward.

She is thrilled to be delivering some Christmas cheer to the hospital.

“I love making them. They bring so much joy,” she said.

Her family and garden are her other passions in life.

“I live for my grandchildren.

“I thought I was born to be a mother, but I was born to be Mimi (what her grandchildren call her). That beautiful, unconditional love  that comes back around.”

Victoria can be contacted on  Facebook  or by email: victoria.m68@gmail.com.

She can deliver wreaths as far as Ballina.
