The Centre for Population has published two publications on Deaths of Despair and our submission to the Excess mortality inquiry.

Deaths of Despair

This short guide prepared by the Centre for Population compares deaths related to suicide, drug and alcohol induced deaths in Australia, the UK and the US.

The guide looks at historical trends and the first two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. This guide has been developed in reference to the book, ‘Deaths of despair and the future of capitalism’ by Anne Case and Angus Deaton.

Excess mortality inquiry submission

The Centre for Population prepared this submission for the inquiry into Excess Mortality conducted by the Senate Community Affairs References Committee.
