Elected councillors declared – No changes following recount for Hay and Edward River

Recent stories

There have been no changes following a recount in Hay and Edward River Councils last Friday.

An unsuccessful candidate in both Hay and Deniliquin requested the recount due to very tight margins.

The candidate for Edward River Council was former experienced Hay Shire councillor, Airlie Circuitt who missed out on being elected on only a few votes.

The official councillors for the next four years for Hay are Martyn Quinn, Will Miller, Carol Oataway, Lionel Garner, Darren Tapper, Geoff Chapman, Paul Porter and John Perry.

Miller, Tapper and Perry will be inducted as new councillors for Hay Shire.

The new council will meet for their first ordinary monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 22 when the mayor and deputy mayor will be elected.

NSW Electoral Commission also determined the election of nine Councillors to Edward River Council.

The newly elected members are (in order of votes counted):  Kellie Crossley, Ashley Hall, Craig Druitt, Frank Schofield, Leanne Mulham, Shirlee Burge, Ken Bates, Linda Fawns and Shannon Sampson.

Edward River Council has embarked on a comprehensive induction program, ensuring councillors are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve the community effectively.
